The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is an important water channel for the east route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. It is responsible for water delivery to Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Shandong's Jiaodong region. It will conduct trial waters on May 28. Chen Aiping, deputy director of the Bureau of Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Transport, stated that it is necessary to formulate a specific plan for the “oil to gas conversion” of the Jiangsu section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal and the Shandong section of the ship as soon as possible, strengthen coordination among various departments, give full play to the guiding role of the government, and guide enterprises to accelerate this process. The maritime department should focus on researching and solving the problems faced by the majority of shipowners and boat people, reducing unnecessary examination and approval procedures, accelerating research and introduction of corresponding technical norms, standards, and methods, and contributing to the creation of the "Chingshui Corridor" of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal.

It is reported that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs has completed the technical renovation and ship inspection of 21 ships using LNG fuel power, and some of the ships have been put into operation.
