ThyssenKrupp Chengdu New Parts Plant Put into Operation
On November 29th, 2013, ThyssenKrupp Group's new auto parts factory in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Chengdu ThyssenKrupp Bova Spring Co., Ltd. was officially put into operation. The plant will mainly produce automobile springs and stabilizer bars to provide supporting services for vehicle manufacturers in China. The planned annual production capacity is approximately 3 million springs and 1.5 million stabilizer bars .
The plant is a joint venture between ThyssenKrupp and Chinese auto parts manufacturer, Fool Automotive Components Co., Ltd., with the former holding 60% of the shares and the latter holding 40%. Chengdu ThyssenKruppuluo Spring Co., Ltd. created about 200 new jobs for the local area. The ThyssenKrupp Group invested about 150 million yuan in this new plant.

Dr. Karsten Kroos, CEO of ThyssenKrupp's mechanical parts technology business unit, said: “For us, China is the most important growth market in the world. In the year, we invested about EUR 250 million in new auto parts factories built in China, and we currently have seven factories in China, and there is also a factory that produces cylinder head cover module assemblies. Under construction."
The new plant is the first production company that ThyssenKrupp has invested and built in western China. Dr. Kasten Kraus said: “Our parts and components are helping people in the world's economic growth regions to meet the growing demand for travel. At the same time, our products allow customers to produce lighter, more economical, more comfortable and safer vehicles."
Chengdu factory covers an area of ​​about 14,000 square meters. The plant started construction in the summer of 2012 and was completed on schedule in the spring of 2013. After completion of production machinery and production line installation and commissioning, the plant was put into operation in October. The springs and stabilizing rods produced are important components closely related to the safety and comfort of automobiles. They can absorb and buffer the centrifugal force from the road surface when oscillating and turning, ensuring the smooth driving of the car.
ThyssenKrupp's automotive parts product line in China covers crankshafts, camshafts, cylinder head cover module assemblies, steering systems, springs and stabilizer bars. The mechanical components business unit has approximately 3,800 employees in China. In the 2011/2012 fiscal year, ThyssenKrupp's mechanical parts technology business had sales of approximately 700 million euros in China, of which two-thirds of the sales came from the auto parts sector.
In addition to building a new auto parts plant in Chengdu, ThyssenKrupp has further promoted the development of auto parts business in Asia, South America and Europe in the past year. For example, a factory producing cylinder head cover module assembly in Ilsenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany started production this summer, while in China and Brazil, two other cylinder heads The cover module assembly factory is under construction. In China, this year there is also a new cylinder head cover module assembly line and a crankshaft factory put into operation in Dalian and Nanjing respectively; in Shanghai, a steering system production line has already started operation. In Hungary, a new axle assembly company has also started production. ThyssenKrupp has invested about 350 million euros in the above projects.
