Robert: Bosch to do "all-rounder" can't just sell accessories
The Bosch Group, a giant of parts and components, has never stopped its own pace, and its business has grown wider and wider. The vigorous development of the Chinese automotive market has induced Bosch to increase its investment and focus on building localized production in China. Apart from setting up Bosch China headquarters in Shanghai, it has also formulated the “parts + diagnostic + service†strategy for the automotive aftermarket, and established Bosch in Beijing. Automotive Professional Repairs the first direct sales store in the Asia Pacific region. Robert Hanze, Global President of Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Business Unit, said in an exclusive interview with reporters: Bosch is not just a company that produces parts and components.
On March 20, 2013, the new plant of Bosch Automotive Components (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. was officially put into use. As the production base and R&D center of the Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Business Unit in the Asia-Pacific region, the new plant will provide spark plugs, brake components and diagnostic equipment for the aftermarket and independent aftermarket in the Asia Pacific region, strengthening Bosch Automotive's aftermarket business unit “Parts+ Diagnosis + service" strategy.
The total investment of the Bosch Nanjing new plant is 1.1 billion yuan, which is the largest investment in the production and R&D field of the Bosch Automotive Aftermarket business unit. The new factory has a building area of 86,000 square meters. It is expected that the new plant will achieve 125 million by 2015. With annual output of spark plugs, 80 million brake pads and 25,000 diagnostic devices, the company specializes in developing spark plugs, brake components and diagnostic equipment for the full range of models in the Asia-Pacific market. In addition, the new plant also has an R&D center to develop competitive customized solutions for the Asia Pacific market. This is the largest production base and R&D center for the global investment of the Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Business Unit.
The new plant adopts cutting-edge continuous wave laser welding technology and has the capability to produce ceramic materials with electrical resistance of over 40,000 volts. It can provide high performance spark plugs for the latest generation of turbocharged direct injection engines. In terms of brake components, the factory ensures that the brake pads achieve a high-performance performance of safe braking by introducing cutting-edge testing and inspection equipment. The new plant's first locally produced diagnostic products, such as tire changers, balancing machines, inspection lines, four-wheel locators and engine analyzers, can meet the growing demand for the automotive aftermarket in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, the factory launched a dual-system apprenticeship vocational education program in July 2012, through the training of excellent skilled workers to solve the shortage of skilled workers and enhance production capacity.
The reason why Bosch wants to open a new factory in Nanjing, Robert said: “This is our firm confidence and long-term commitment to the fast-growing China and Asia-Pacific markets, so we chose China and chose Nanjing to establish Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Business Unit Global Investment. The largest production base and R&D center. The emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region and other emerging markets are very much promoting our business. At present, Bosch Group's 1/4 business volume is in the Asia-Pacific region, which makes us need to focus more on serving the Asia-Pacific market.â€
At the same time, Robert put forward: Ten years ago, Bosch could only produce parts and components, but ten years later, simply selling parts and components can no longer meet the needs of consumers. Therefore, Bosch launched a "parts + diagnostics + services" strategy, each link can be better integrated. Bosch wants to make consumers get the best products at the same time, get the best product experience, after-sale protection, and gain training value in our repair shop. Bosch has completed the acquisition of Taiwan's Unipoint Group and SPX's automotive service solutions business and has become Bosch's reliable partner for professional after-sales maintenance. Bosch will continue to increase its development efforts in the automotive aftermarket segment.
