Most of the tailings dams that were built in the 1950s and 1960s that were unstable or have been in disrepair were reinforced and raised to prevent the impact of tailings loss on the environment. Many mines have rehabilitated the tailings pond through “leveling-covering-vegetationâ€, which has played a positive role in the prevention and control of dust, not only protecting the environment, but also achieving economic benefits. For example, the reclamation project of the tailings reservoir of the Zizigou copper mine in Zhongtiao Mountain is very representative. The Mojiatun tailings reservoir reclamation and rebuilding, covering 100,000 m 3 of land, 213,000 m 2 of land, planting more than 2,000 poplars, autumn paulownia, artichokes, etc., and planting food crops and cash crops and vegetables in the reclamation area. Fruits, fruits, etc., not only achieved significant economic benefits, but also protected the environment, water erosion and wind erosion were effectively controlled, and the microclimate was adjusted.

Quartz content of 99.9%, a low-containing iron, chromium, titanium, oxides and other impurities can be used as tailings production of glass, silicon carbide, the main raw material. The tailings can also be used as materials for filling the underground goaf, and the Hongtoushan copper mine and the Tonglushan copper mine can be used to fill the underground goaf with tailings, and good results are obtained.
