Carrying out environmental protection to the end of Iveco to build a CNG road sweeper

In order to achieve sustainable transportation, Iveco developed a modified car product with technology partner Johnston Engineering to solve the problem of emissions from trucks and tops. It is equipped with a sweeper body developed by Johnston Engineering that combines the truck's CNG engine with a hydraulic drive. Since conventional truck-mounted sweepers typically operate a sweeping device, a second diesel engine with less emissions constraints or even emissions constraints is added. Iveco launched this model, eliminating the top-loading diesel engine, which significantly reduced emissions compared to conventional models.

Iveco's new sustainable zero diesel sweeper

At the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in 2018, the new sustainable zero-diesel sweeper was on display at the Iveco and Johnston Sweepers diesel-free/low-emission booths.

The new VS651 CNG truck-mounted sweeper is based on the 210-horsepower Iveco Eurocargo Natural Power truck, equipped with a cleaning body designed by Johnston and Iveco, and powered entirely by CNG (compressed natural gas).

It combines a CNG engine of the vehicle with a hydrostatic transmission developed by Johnston, so that no diesel is used to operate the sweeping equipment, significantly reducing emissions compared to conventional truck-mounted sweepers. This new model solves the common problems in the transportation industry. The body of a cleaning car usually has a system that works with additional or less controlled engines. The three boxes installed in the back of the cockpit hold 420 liters of CNG, enough to complete the entire cleaning shift.

At present, the modified company Johnston Sweepers has been manufacturing road sweepers in Surrey in Surrey for more than 75 years and is the world market leader in road cleaning vehicles. 70% of Johnston's sweeper products are exported to more than 80 countries around the world, helping to keep the streets of cities around the world clean and tidy.

The Leeds City Council in the UK is the first local agency to introduce the latest Iveco Eurocargo Natural Power chassis Johnston VS651 CNG road cleaning vehicle to the team as part of the council's Clean Air Program, which aims to make the team in 2020. All vehicles operate on CNG or other alternative energy sources. France's Urbaser also ordered 26 new CNG machines to clean up the city of Paris, preparing for the ban on the use of diesel engines before 2005 in 2019, and will fully ban diesel vehicles in 2024. This order is the largest order for the new sweeping vehicle so far, reflecting the attitude of reducing air pollution in cities around the world.
