Trelleborg Sealing Solutions develops wear-resistant Orkot® bearing products

The Orkot® bearings developed and produced by Trelleborg Sealing Solutions have extremely low wear, while Orkot® TXMM bearing materials have also proven to be the most ideal materials for marine propulsion motors. The motor must operate normally at low shaft speeds. At the same time, the requirements for boundary lubrication are quite strict. Therefore, bearings with good wear resistance must be installed on the motor.

Inspection proves that Orkot® TXMM bearing materials perform well at low speeds. The limit running speed of this type of bearing is as low as 5m/16ft per minute at a pressure of 6 bar/87 pascals, which is equivalent to 2 litres/4 pints per minute of water flow. Since the concentration of silica fume in the brine is 250 ppm, the 200 mm/8 in. bearings installed on the vessel will continue to operate on the LG4 bronze sleeve for more than 2,000 hours. The test results showed that the overall wear of this bearing was only 0.027 mm/0.001 inch per 1,000 hours of operation, and at the same time, the wear of the spindle was greatly reduced by improving the spindle. This test result was based on Inconel and nickel-chromium-boron coated shafts and was finally tested by repeated testing.

Traditionally designed propeller shafts reduce friction on bearings by creating a thin film of water at high speeds. In order to save energy, the newly developed electric-driven propeller rotary shaft does not generate a water film between the rotary shaft and the bearing when it is running at a low speed. Therefore, friction is reduced by boundary lubrication. Orkot® bearing material ensures contact life with the rotating shaft while reducing wear between the shaft and its gasket.

Orkot® marine bearings are produced using a special composite solid lubricant and have a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. Even in the Arctic or other tropical waters, they will hardly expand and have good stability. In addition, Orkot® bearings and housings do not corrode and can withstand edge loading and misalignment of parts.

Brian Tarrant, Sales Manager for Orkot® Bearing Engineering, said, “Orkot® is a special material that is resistant to seawater and has proven to be an excellent material in many marine applications. Bearings produced from this material are used at low speeds. Its performance is particularly prominent. Orkot® bearings have nearly twice the service life of other alternatives and offer a lot of benefits to customers."

Car&Truck Parts

In This part, we would like to introduce some components of Engine, Suspension and Steering system, like Nuts, Screws, Bolts, ABS RING, Position Sensor for Camshaft or Crankshaft, Wheel Speed Sensor also called ABS Sensor.

We developed some small components as mentioned screws and nuts, so it is good for you that the mini. qty will be not too much.
