In fluoroplastics, PTFE has the largest consumption and the widest range of uses. It is an important category of fluoroplastics. The chemical structure of PTFE is the replacement of all hydrogen atoms in polyethylene. In the PTFE molecule, the F atom masks the CC bond and the CF bond strength is particularly stable. It is not attacked by any chemicals other than the alkali metal and elemental fluorine.

In the PTFE molecule, the F atom is symmetrical, and the two elements in CF are covalently bonded. There is no free electron in the molecule and the entire molecule is neutral. PTFE has excellent dielectric properties because PTFE has no gram in its molecular structure, so its crystallinity is high. Because PTFE has an inert fluorine-containing outer shell, it has outstanding non-stick properties and a low coefficient of friction.

PTFE has outstanding excellent comprehensive performance, high and low temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, non-stick, self-lubricating, excellent dielectric properties, low friction coefficient, but its mechanical properties are not as good as other plastics. Good, no wear, low hardness, easy cold flow. Adding any filler that can withstand PTFE sintering temperature (360°C - 380°C) in PTFE, its mechanical properties can be greatly improved. At the same time, maintain other excellent properties of PTFE. The fillers include glass fiber, metal, metal oxide, graphite, molybdenum disulfide, carbon fiber, polyimide, and the like.
