SK Global Chemicals to build EPDM rubber plant
South Korea's SK Global Chemicals recently announced that it will establish an EPDM plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons/year in Ningbo and it is expected to start production in 2014. It is understood that if the project is fully operational, SK Global's EPDM total capacity will increase to 90,000 tons per year. The company stated that the site, raw material suppliers and other necessary resources have already been identified for the project. EPDM rubber is a high-grade synthetic rubber with good weathering and ozone resistance. This material is used in more than 60% of auto parts. China has become the world's largest auto market, and the demand for this product will also grow exponentially. However, domestic manufacturers can only meet 20% of the demand for EPDM rubber.
