The new conditions for oil well production impose higher requirements on petroleum pipes. Conventional pipes cannot meet the drilling and mining needs of ultra-deep wells, horizontal wells, inclined wells, and multi-lateral wells. The continuous pipe is a new type of pipe used for oil well exploration. The single pipe is several kilometers long and can be used several times to go down. It is an essential equipment for complex drilling operations and shale gas extraction, but the production and processing of continuous pipe steel is very high. In terms of technical difficulty, only a handful of companies internationally own production technology and seal it tightly.

WISCO cooperated with relevant scientific research institutes and enterprises to carry out collaborative innovation around continuous pipe technology and achieved major results: First, independently invented continuous pipe steel manufacturing technology, and designed a special component system suitable for flexible continuous pipe manufacturing and performance requirements through cleanliness. Steel smelting and ferrite + bainite dual phase steel structure control technology has obtained high-strength, high-plastic continuous pipe steel, and has achieved effective control of inclusions and strips in mass production of steel, made of continuous The tube is up to seven kilometers long and has no defects. The steel pipe has excellent anti-corrosion performance and its fatigue life is better than that of similar foreign products. The second is the first ever domestic continuous steel strip rolling technology with variable wall thickness, which achieved a uniform change in the thickness of several hundred meters of steel strip from thin to thick, and the full-length thickness deviation is less than ± 0.1mm, satisfying nearly 10,000 meters of continuous pipe to steel With the need for wall thickness changes.

According to the appraisal committee of China Petroleum Corporation, the fatigue life and overall performance of the CT80 continuous pipe made from the 3.18mm hot-rolled steel strip provided by Wuhan Iron and Steel Company reached the level of imported continuous pipe.
