Beneficiation and processing technology of magnesite

Magnesite ore dressing is mainly based on heavy medium and hot selection. With the progress of science and technology and improve the quality of the concentrate, the current flotation and chemical processing has become an important means of magnesite ore purification.

Flotation method is one of the main methods for treating magnesite. For gangue minerals, silicate minerals such as talc and quartz are mainly used. At the natural pH of the slurry, amine cation collectors are usually added during flotation. And the foaming agent can achieve good results, and the purity of the magnesite is increased to 95% to 97%. Shandong Yuxian Magnesite is an old mine that has been produced for many years. In 1984, a flotation industrial test plant was built. The process is: 1 crushing and screening: raw grit crusher and roller crusher with a particle size of less than 200mm The vibrating screen consists of two sections and one closed circuit is broken to 10~0mm for ball mill feeding; 2 grinding grade: -10mm ore through a closed-circuit grinding, grinding to -200 mesh accounted for 70%, entering flotation operation; 3 flotation The flotation process consists of reverse flotation (one coarse and one sweep) and positive flotation (one coarse and one fine). The former selects all tailings, and the latter obtains magnesium concentrate and medium ore. Figure 4.2.7 is a flotation flow chart for the mine. Table 4.2.9 shows the quality analysis results of the magnesite ore dressing products in Jixian County. Light burning: Magnesite is calcined at 750~1 100 °C and called "light burning". Its product is called light burnt magnesium powder. Since the reduction of magnesite is generally about 50%, the content of MgO in the ore can be almost doubled by light burning. In this sense, light burning is the most effective means of enriching MgO. In addition, light burning is also a preliminary job for hot selection of magnesite and some re-election. Light burnt magnesium has high activity and is an ideal raw material for the production of high-density magnesia.

Thermal selection method: The difference in thermal properties between magnesite and talc is caused by the difference in density and hardness between the two after calcination, and then the mineral is separated by selective crushing and simple screening or classification. The process is simple and low cost.

Haicheng magnesite is purified by reverberatory kiln light burning-hot selection method. The test ore is a Haicheng first-class mine with a particle size of 50-200 mm. The reflection kiln is 7.8m3, the light burning temperature is 750~1 100°C, and the residence time is 2h. The ore sieve after light burning is divided into two parts of -5 mm and +5 mm. The -5mm part is then finely ground in a 4R suspension roll mill. Among them, -120 is a high-purity light burnt magnesium powder. The combination of +120 mesh and +5mm is a commercial light burnt magnesium. The high-purity light-burned magnesium powder is then compacted into a high-purity magnesia. Figure 4.2.8 is a flow chart of the light-burning-hot selection process of the reverberatory kiln of Haicheng magnesite. Table 4.2.10 is the chemical composition of the ore dressing product. Magnesite ore dressing, in addition to the above flotation method, light burning method, hot selection method, there are re-election method, electric selection method, radiation beneficiation method, magnetic seed sorting method, and the like. These latter methods are not used much in China.
