Scientists developed a new type of plasma polarizer
Nanjing University R & D team developed a plasma polarizer, this polarizer can use a bunch of incident light to generate multiple beams with a variety of polarization state of the light. In general, the plasma-based polarizer is thinner than the conventional polarization control device but its function is not as strong as the conventional polarizer. At present, Professor Zhu Shi-ning from Nanjing University and his colleagues have created a plasma device that can controllably generate light with different polarization states. The device based on surface plasmon field interference, the formation of near-field polarization state of the metal surface. These scientists demonstrated the usefulness of this device by using this device to transform a bunch of incident light into eight beams of light with different polarization states (two beamlines, two beams, four beams). This method provides a new way to achieve complete control of light polarization.
