Red Flag is expected to return to H-platform C131 or put into production in 2013

Last week, the reporter learned from people familiar with the situation that the FAW Hongqi C131 sedan is expected to go offline at the end of this year and will be listed around 2013. The C131 is the first high-end model developed based on the H platform and is expected to be produced in the second plant of FAW Car in the future.

Red Flag C131 Positioning Premium Car

In fact, FAW Car had disclosed a plan to invest RMB 1.785 billion for the Hongqi C131 project last year. The Hongqi sedan has two platforms, L and H, of which the C131 belongs to the H platform and positions the limousine.

According to the plan, the red flag C131 project will be built on the original factory building, welding production line, transformation and coating production and the existing assembly line. In 2013, C131 will reach an annual output of 30,000 vehicles, targeting the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-class and other high-end luxury car market, equipped with 2.0T, 2.5L, 3.0L and other three kinds of displacement engines.

However, for the technical source of the red flag models after the resurrection, FAW Car executives once stated that they will get rid of the borrowing mode of platform technologies such as Audi and Toyota in the past few decades and fully realize independent research and development.

H platform models will become the main brand of Hongqi

As can be seen from the spy shots that have been exposed again recently, the length of the red flag C131 will be nearly 5 meters, and the wheelbase will be close to 3 meters. The air grille will continue the chrome-plated waterfall style of the Hongqi Spirit model, and the wheel size will also be 225/55R17.

In terms of power equipment, according to FAW Group's plan, by 2015, advanced technologies such as twin turbochargers and in-cylinder direct fuel injection should be applied to FAW independent models, with a large displacement from the smallest 1.3L to 6L V12. model. The red flag C131 is expected to be equipped with a 2.5V6 direct-injection engine, followed by a 3.0L V6 direct injection model.

It is reported that in the future, the products of the H platform will become the main force of the Hongqi brand, and the high-end SUVs are expected to be launched in the future. The models of the L platform will mainly target luxury brands in the future. It will take time from product preparation, technical capability enhancement and market cultivation.
