In 2011, an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale hit Japan's northeastern sea area and triggered a tsunami, which made it difficult for the people. In the face of the catastrophe, both China and Japan have given a helping hand.

More than 200 representatives from all walks of life participated in the “Chengdu•Dujiangyan Friendly Walking Conference” to promote Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges between the Chinese and Japanese friendship ambassadors Yoshiko Nakano, earthquake-disabled students of the Dujiangyan Yuaiai School, and victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake in Japan. At the opening ceremony, the waters that had been previously held in the famous Japanese shrine Otsuki Hachimangu (taken from the waters of Dujiangyan and the Sendai River in Sendai, Japan) and from well-known scenic spots in Sichuan such as Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Emeishan, Leshan, and Mt. The water, a total of seven water sources, was imported into a porcelain vase. After praying, it was poured into the Dujiangyan from the south bridge. It means that “China and Japan have a lot of water and have a long history”.

The heroine Nakano, who was widely admired by the Chinese because of the beautiful actress starring in "Hunting," arrived in Chengdu for the second time after a lapse of 32 years. She said that there are impressions of giant pandas and Mapo tofu. The first time you eat Sichuanese food, you will feel a spurt, but now you are used to it. She has been to China for 30 to 40 times and has seen many changes in China. During the ceremony, Michiko Nakano was awarded the title of “Dujiang/Dujiangyan Tourism Culture Ambassador by Dujiangyan”.

In the scenic Dujiangyan area, China and Japan participate in a 5 km walking tour. Shijingdao Xiong from Sendai said that this time he came to Dujiangyan to see the dramatic changes in Sichuan's four-year post-disaster reconstruction.
